@Pale: Das erste „Opfer“ hat das Mitsingen übrigens verweigert, das gab dann direkt noch nen Spruch von der Bühne runter: „Na, Du stellst Dich bestimmt auch nie wieder in die erste Reihe, oder?“ Wenn er Dich hat, hat er Dich, da hilft alles nix...

Ansonsten kann ich mich nur anschließen - sehr sehr klasse (zumindest A23 und besonders Rotersand, hab ich das erste Mal live gesehen, aber bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal) und leider nur mäßig besucht...Platz zum Tanzen ist ja schön, aber man macht sich schon Sorgen um die Finanzierbarkeit solcher Veranstaltungen.

Hmmm...zum Thema aufregende Erlebnisse fällt mir nur eins ein...ist jetzt nicht so der knaller ...hatte die gelegenheit mich kurz mit ronan harris auf der Pastperfect releaseparty zu unterhalten. Das fand ich toll....aber mitsingen bei rotersand --- das ist cool.

A23, Rotersand, RLZ auf Tour: Konzertbericht online

Nach etwa 2 ½ Jahren sind Assemblage 23 wieder auf Tour, begleitend zur Veröffentlichung des neuen Albums „Storm“. Und diese Tour versprach schon im Vorfeld ein Highlight zu werden. Zumindest allein das Line Up ließ viel erwarten. Tom Shear hatte als musikalische Unterstützung die deutschen Erfolgsmannen von Rotersand und die noch recht unbekannten Schweden von Run Level Zero (eine Rezension zu ihrem aktuellen und viel versprechenden Album „Walk the Psycho[path]“ findet ihr auf unserer Seite) mit auf seine Tour durch Europa genommen.

Als angemessene Abwechslung zum Diplomstress machten Björn und ich uns auf den Weg nach Leipzig. Und unsere Erwartungen wurden nicht enttäuscht. Der Abend wurde zu einem echten Musikerlebnis und die Leipziger Moritzbastei erwies sich einmal mehr als Garant für gute Konzerte mit einem außergewöhnlichen Publikum!

Einen Bericht über den Tourstopp in Leipzig könnt ihr ab jetzt hier lesen. Dabei hat Björn seine Eindrücke vom Auftritt der Headliner A23 zu Papier gebracht, ich dagegen habe die beiden Vorbands genauer unter die Lupe genommen.

Back from Europe!
A big thanks to all who came out to support us on our 2004 European "Storm" tour! The schedule was grueling (3 and a half weeks of shows with only 2 nights off), but we had a terrific time and met a lot of really cool fans. An extra special thanks to our terrific support acts Run Level Zero and Rotersand. Not only did they put on great performances, but they were really nice guys and an absolute joy to tour with. And last, but certainly not least, a HUGE thanks to A23's terrific road crew: Jökke, Axel, Sören, & Doreen. You guys are the unsung heros of the tour and we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks also to Jan for the giant Twix bars.

Assemblage 23 remixes James D. Stark
Assemblage 23 recently completed a remix for indie darkwave/synthpop solo artist James D. Stark. A23 remixed the track "Dying Beauty" in a very uncharacteristic atmospheric drum n' bass style, a stark (*rimshot*) contrast to the original track's slower synthpop feel. The remix will be released as part of a maxi-single in the first quarter of 2005. Currently in production is a remix for midwest electro faves PTI of their track "Databass". Following that will be remixes for Australia's Temple of Tears, and US band Interface.

Glis remixes "Infinite"
US band and A23's upstairs neighbor Glis has completed a remix for Assemblage 23 of the track "Infinite" off of Storm. The remix is to appear on an upcoming compilation for the Belgian Alfa-Matrix label. There are a few other remixes from other bands coming further down the line, but nothing that can be announced just yet.

backandtotheleft begins work on their next album
Seattle's backandtotheleft has begin writing the follow-up album to the just-released "Obsolete" album. The band's debut was produced by Tom Shear and was released on his own 23db label. Incidentally, for those who caught the A23 European tour, you probably heard backandtotheleft without even knowing it. "Obsolete" was one of the CDs the sound tech played in between sets. As always, the "Obsolete" album is available directly from this website in the 'Store' section. You'll also have the chance to catch backandtotheleft live on the upcoming U.S. "Storm" tour which is set to start in April.

backandtotheleft signs to Metropolis Records
Seattle's backandtotheleft, formerly signed to Assemblage 23 frontmanTom Shear's 23db label, have inked a deal with Metropolis Records. Shear produced the band's debut release 'Obsolete' in the summer of last year. After shopping it around, the band was initially unable to stir up label interest. Believing that the band was something that deserved to be heard, Shear decided he'd put the record out himself in hope of generating some attention for the band, and hopefully allowing the band to move on to greener pastures label-wise. Even without the benefit of advertising or a proper label, 'Obsolete' did astonishingly well. So well in fact, that the band garnered the attention of Metropolis Records. Says Shear of the deal, "I couldn't be happier or prouder of them, and I'm really happy to see them on a label that I know will do them well." Metropolis Records will reissue 'Obsolete' in August both in the US and Europe with at least one bonus track. In the meantime, the original 23db version of the album will be available for sale on the Assemblage 23 Online Store and at the merch booth on the upcoming Assemblage 23 US Stormtour, for which backandtotheleft will be the support act. This will be a collector's item soon, so get while the getting's good!

The Storm is Coming!
We're just a week away from the kickoff of Assemblage 23's 2005 US Storm Tour! We've got a lot of great dates lined-up and look forward to seeing you all. Please note that although the band will not be able to answer emails or keep current with the Forum during the tour, backandtotheleft's drummer Fritter has set up a LiveJournal Tour Diary for the storm tour. It's unclear right now how often we'll be able to update it, as this is entirely dependent on our internet access situation, but we will try to update it as often as possible with news of our progress and whatever weird stuff ends up happening to us this time around. Also, the Assemblage 23 Online Store will be closed tempoararily effective from today until sometime during the week of May 15th. There will be lots of new merch available for sale on the tour, and upon the band's return, this new merch will be made available for sale online at the Store.

Assemblage 23 US Stormtour 2005 Comes to a Close

Well, after 6 fun-filled, sleep-deprived weeks on the road, Assemblage 23's US tour for the Storm album is now over. The tour was our most successful so far, and I would like to take the time to thank the promoters for their hard work in spreading the word about the shows, and also to thank the fans who came out and supported us. We got to see a lot of people we'd met on previous tours, and met a lot of new fans as well, which is always encouraging. So thanks to everyone, we couldn't have done it.

Work on Nerve Filter Album Begins

Tom has begun work on new material for a possible full-length Nerve Filter release. For the uninitiated, Nerve Filter is an Assemblage 23 sideproject that explores more experimental styles drawing on the influences of bands such as LFO, Bola, Boards of Canada, Lassigue Bendthaus, Beefcake and others. About 5 pieces are currently being worked on, with the hope that by year's end there will be enough material for a full release. Plans right now are to release the album on Tom's own 23db label. No release date has been set.

backandtotheleft "Obsolete" out on Metropolis Records Soon!

Following their successful stint as opening act on Assemblage 23's recent US tour, Seattle's backandtotheleft's killer debut album "Obsolete" will soon be reissed on Metropolis Records. The original 23db version is no longer available. The reissue will feature all of the original tracks, plus an exclusive Assemblage 23 remix of "Misstep" that was not on the original. Projected release date is August 23rd.

A little less than a month ago, while he was riding a subway home by himself, Josh was approached by a group of individuals who proceeded to severely beat and rob him. The individuals were never caught, and Josh was left with extensive facial and dental injuries and an ever-mounting stack of medical bills. Since Josh, like an ever-increasing number of us in this country, is uninsured, he is in an undeniably tough situation. "St. Christopher" ist das 2003er Regie-Debüt von Regisseur R.T. Herwig. Der Film enthält einen Soundtrack von Assemblage 23 Frontmann Tom Shear und ist jetzt als DVD von Vanguard Cinema erhältlich. Der Film handelt vom emotionalen Konflikt eines Ex-Cons, welcher zwar versucht ein ehrliches Leben zu führen, aber immer wieder von der Vergangenheit heimgesucht wird. Der Filöm wurde ursprünglich 2003 veröffentlicht und ber4eits auf einigen Indie-Filmfestivals gezeigt. Die Musik im Film ist nicht im typischen A23 Stil gehalten, sondern eher im traditionellen Soundtrack Stil.

ASSEMBLAGE 23: Collaborates with Sara Noxx

Assemblage 23 frontman Tom Shear has recorded vocals for the upcoming Sara Noxx side project, Essexx ... Essexx' sound is being described as "a combination of club sounds from both the past and the present combined with infectuous melodies and emotionally detached vocals." Shear contributed vocals for the chorus of a track called "Undercover". No release date has been set.
